CGPI to Percentage conversion for Mumbai University
There is no official declaration from MU to convert any SGPI/CGPI pointer to exact percent . The only thing given behind every marksheet is this block
After searching the web and hunting through various websites I concluded with the most effective way of conversion which also matches with the MU prescribed rules.
From the table above , since for 6.75 pointer the equivalent percent is 60%
for 7.25 pointer it is 65%
for 7.75 pointer it is 70% and so on
The conclusion is the following block
For Example:
step 1) If you got 7.46 pointer then your equivalent percent is above 65% and below 69.99%
Now to get the exact percent,
step 2) subtract the lower pointer from your pointer (referring to the above table)
i.e. here 7.46-7.25=0.21
step 3) From the table 0.10 pointer = 1%
therefore 0.21 pointer = 2.1 %
step 4) Now add your lower percent (from step 1) to the percent obtained in step 3.
here 65+2.1= 67.1%
this is your percentage marks !
Note:This may not be the exact percent but nearest because sometimes the original marks does not match with the pointer . A person getting little higher marks than other may have lower pointer than him . But what to do ?! The Grading system is framed like that by Mumbai university.
